When Lily first arrived at her foster home, she was absolutely terrified of people. She was extremely defensive and wouldn’t allow anyone to touch her for weeks. She didn’t understand that the humans around her were there to love her.

But her foster family didn’t give up.

With patience, dedication, and lots of love, Lily slowly began to realize that hands could be gentle and people could be trusted. First came those very first pets. Then, eventually, she allowed herself to be picked up and held.

And now, months later, something truly beautiful has happened...

Lily seeks out affection.

She will climb right into a lap, settle down for a nap, and enjoy having her back scratched. The frightened little girl who once wouldn’t let anyone touch her is becoming a cuddlebug right before our eyes.

Lily still has a ways to go. She may not always be ready for snuggles, and she needs someone who understands that trust doesn’t happen overnight. But we believe there is so much more love hiding inside this special girl.

All she needs is the right person willing to be patient and let her continue to grow at her own pace.
