Meet Red (aka Reddy) <3
Red is a sweet, gentle senior gentleman looking for a soft place to land and enjoy his golden years. At around 12-13 years old (estimated birthday 3.22.13), this handsome guy has truly mastered the art of the good life: cozy naps, tasty meals, and watching the world go by from a sunny window.
Red came into our care after his beloved owner passed away, and he's been doing his best to adjust to all the changes. Through it all, he's remained the same kind, easygoing soul-just quietly hoping for a home to call his own again.
Originally an outdoor neighborhood cat, Red chose the indoor life long ago-and he hasn't looked back since. These days, he's all about comfort and companionship. He has a low energy level and would be happiest in a calm, quiet home where he can relax at his own pace.
Red is friendly with people and will happily greet you with his soft, raspy little "hello." He enjoys pets, tolerates being picked up, and is wonderfully easygoing. He's a very good boy for care and handling.
Red can coexist with another calm cat, and he currently lives peacefully with his housemate, Grumpy. Because they've already lost so much, we would absolutely love to see them adopted together into a quiet home where they can stay side by side. That said, Red would also be okay as a solo cat or with one very mellow feline friend-but he would not do well in a busy, multi-cat household.
He has met dogs and prefers to keep his distance, so a dog-free or very mellow dog home would be best.
Like many seniors, Red has a bit of arthritis in his back legs, but it doesn't slow him down much (especially when food is involved-his appetite is excellent!). He uses his litterbox perfectly, enjoys his water fountain, and has great house manners.
Red does have a mild eye irritation that's being monitored, but it doesn't seem to bother him-and he takes his treatment like a champ.
If you're looking for a quiet, loving companion who will happily share your couch and your heart, Red is ready to spend his retirement years with you.

Please also note that we are a foster based organization, so our animals could be located anywhere in the Chicagoland area. Thank you!)
