DESCRIPTION

Arya+4 ACCT-A-253138 are 3-month-old kittens that came in as strays on 6/16. They were unfortunately abandoned in our lobby. They tested panleuk positive in the shelter, and were moved into isolation for treatment & monitoring.

MEDICAL:

On 6/16, Arya+4 tested positive for panleukopenia virus, and were started on medication, given treatments, and placed in isolation. They did not present with any symptoms.

BEHAVIORAL:

Per staff on 6/18:

"Kittens got loose in the panleuk room. All of them were very fearful & skittish, and most of them clumped together and on top of each other behind a kennel. They did attempt to climb the back of the kennel as well. I worked with another staff member to put them back in their kennel. The majority of them were very fearful and hissy, and we had to drive them over to a corner area for me to grab them. Most of them did not react much when picked up, only freezing up. They all went the other side of the kennel once returned, and hid in secluded corners or in the feral den. The gray tabby kitten specifically (either Zelda or Vixen) was extremely freaked out, and was especially hissy & growly throughout the process. Once when we grabbed them, they flipped out, hissed and yowled, squirmed around, and bit the bite glove lightly before running away. We did eventually get this one into a corner and slowly got them in a clamshell, and we placed them back into kennel."

Per staff on 6/16:

"I was told this group was on the spicier side, and when I approached the feral den they were in, I did hear low growling from a few of them. They did some of the same when I opened up the den, and they were mostly grouped up towards the bottom & hunching down."
