Midnight Rain - Domestic Short Hair Cat for Adoption in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania

Midnight Rain ACCT-A-256227 is a 16-year-old male who came in as an owner surrender due to not being able to afford him on 8/2. Owner noted that he has "declawed front claws, is fully litter trained, and is a low energy couch potato. He enjoys napping, relaxing, and being petted. His reaction to strangers & children depends on the situation, and he is a little bit interested in wildlife. He does have thyroid issues. He has been eating less than usual, vomiting, and having hairballs a lot recently. If my cat was in the perfect home, it would be a home with cushy furniture and kind attentive people. My cat protected my home and was good company."



Midnight Rain does unfortunately have a few medical issues, such as nuclear sclerosis OU, mild dental calculus, muscle wasting along epaxials (with an unthrifty fur coat), and hyperthyroidism as listed by owner. He has been noted per our medical team to be hissy, and running out of kitty minutes quickly. However, outside of a medical setting, he has been shown to be open to affection, and particularly loves head pets! Can you bring the sunrise for Midnight Rain?

MEDICAL:



Per his intake exam on 8/2, Midnight Rain's coat/skin is clean and flaky, and he is BAR (bright, alert and responsive), hissy, and runs out of kitty minutes quickly. They were unable to check ears & mouth due to behavior.



Per his exam on 8/2, Midnight Rain was BAR (bright, alert and responsive), with some hissing. He has a Body Condition Score (BCS) of 6/9, and a Muscle Condition Score (MCS) of 1/3. He was noted to have nuclear sclerosis OU, and mild dental calculus. He was also noted to have muscle wasting along epaxials, with an unthrifty fur coat. Midnight Rain was diagnosed with hyperthyroidism.



BEHAVIORAL:



Per staff on 8/3:

"I went to say hello to Midnight Rain, and when he saw me, he came up to the front of his kennel calmly & meowed to say hello. When I opened the kennel, he came up calmly, and solicited head pets. He allowed me to pet him all over, and when I stopped a few times to see if he still wanted it, he would sniff my hands & allow me to continue. He seems like a sweet boy, maybe a bit nervous though."
