Domestic Short Hair Cats Available for Adoption in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania

Edward ACCT-A-246454 is a 4-year-old male who came in as a stray on 3/31. Finder noted that he is "friendly. Very nice cat but not a good fighter. He's all beat up! He has a lame rt front leg & bad ear mites." Once in our care, Edward found to have ear mites and sarcoptic mange.



MEDICAL:



Per exam on 3/31:

"pt do have scabies and ear mites



Assessment:

- crusty with scabs

- dirty ear mites +

-dry crusty nose

- scabs all over with scabies

- yellow tartar

-bar (bright, alert, responsive)



Plan

gave bravecto ,con and melbemite

also gave vaccs"



Per exam on 3/31:

"- BAR

Body Condition Score (BCS): 5/9

Muscle Condition Score (MCS): 2/3

- Mildly dehydrated

- Dark debris AU. No ocular/nasal discharge. Normal cervical palpation.

- Blunted 204, 404. Missing multiple incisors. Mild dental calculus, no apparent oral masses or foreign bodies

- Scabbing lesions noted over head/face



Assessment

- Sarcoptic Mange

- Ear mites

- Skin scrape: sarcoptic mange

- Ear cytology: ear mites"



BEHAVIORAL:



Per staff on 4/3:

"I went to say hello to Edward, and he was originally pretty allowing of pets. He does prefer head pets & chin scritches though. He closed his eyes in pleasure for those, but when I pet his back for more than a few seconds, he did very weakly bite at my finger & let out a couple of hisses. When I put my finger in front of his nose to sniff, he also very weakly nibbled my finger & hissed. But he did really enjoy head pets & chin scritches! He just has some areas he wouldn't prefer touched."
