Meet Grilled Cheese, a charming 6 year old hunk of love looking for his forever home!
This handsome fellow enjoys spending his days lounging about, looking out windows, and getting lots of attention! He is happiest being pet, brushed, massaged, and loves lap time. He'll often sit on his humans lap while they work, enjoys lap time in the evening, and will migrate to the bed to sleep next to his people at night.
Grilled Cheese came to Pet Haven after a rough 8 years of living outside. He must have gotten in a lot of fights as he has many battle scars, as well as some weakness in his back legs. Because of this, he doesn't do much jumping and prefers to avoid using stairs. The good news is that he is on Dasuquin and Amantadine, an affordable medication to help with joint pain, and he is feeling much more comfortable.
Grilled Cheese is a low energy guy who sometimes enjoys short play sessions with catnip and wand toys and may partake in some light wrestling, but does this mostly while laying down due to his back legs being a bit wobbly. Because of this he would enjoy a single-level home or a home where he could have all his needs met on the same floor (food, litter, people). While he can do stairs, he's a bit wobbly and would prefer not to. If you give him a small step stool or pet stairs, he'll happily join you on the bed!
Grilled Cheese currently lives in a home with one adult and other male and female foster cats. He is a bit particular about animal friends. He is okay with fellow non-alpha cats, but draws the line with adult cats that get in his personal space. He'll quickly and firmly set a boundary with a small hiss or bop with his paw, and move away. He does seem okay with some other cats and will even groom them. While he hasn't met a dog, he does not seem to be a fan of them via window-watching and wouldn't do well with them in the home. Because he has had all 4 of his incisors removed, he may try to bite another cat but cannot. He will sometimes try to play-bite his humans, but you won't feel teeth -- only gums. He would do fine in a home with adults and older children who know to read his behavior and respect his boundaries patiently.
Grilled Cheese is FIV+, but that doesn't mean he can't live a long, normal, and healthy life! Cats with FIV commonly have average lifespans. Because FIV is spread only through deep bite wounds, FIV positive cats are able to live with FIV negative cats in stable social environments. Please note there may be additional follow up visits and boosters that are not covered by Pet Haven after adoption.
