Tadpole came to the shelter with his friend Albacore after their owner was hospitalized and could no longer care for them. Both boys are incredibly sweet and love attention! Albacore has since found his forever home, and now it's Tadpole's turn!
Tadpole is a friendly, affectionate guy who would love a home where he can soak up plenty of love and attention. He previously lived with another cat and may enjoy having a friendly feline companion in his new home!
During his neuter surgery, Tadpole tested positive for FIV (Feline Immunodeficiency Virus). While that might sound a little scary, FIV-positive cats can live long, happy, and healthy lives! FIV affects the immune system, making it harder for the body to fight off certain infections, but with a stable indoor home, good nutrition, and routine veterinary care, many FIV-positive cats do wonderfully.
FIV is primarily transmitted through deep bite wounds, so the risk of transmission to other cats in a peaceful household is low, though not zero. We're happy to answer questions about introducing Tadpole to resident cats, and we encourage interested adopters to speak with their veterinarian as well.
