In October 2025, we brought 27 cats into our care from a profoundly sad hoarding situation. These beautiful kitties once had a loving owner who struggled with their own mental health. When that owner passed away, the entire feline family was left alone to fend for themselves until help arrived.

Pepper is curious and seems grateful to be in a foster home where she can play and explore without having to worry about when her next meal will come or have to fight to eat. She’s still getting used to sharing space with humans again and will need time to adjust in a new home.

These sweet kitties thrive in the company of other cats and would do best in quiet homes. Despite the conditions they came from, they use their litter boxes and scratching posts faithfully. They can go home in pairs or as singles to homes with at least one other friendly feline.

They need patient, gentle adopters who are committed to continuing the slow, loving work of socialization. If you love a challenge and are willing to play the long game for a big reward, please consider taking a chance on one or more of these cats. After all they’ve been through, they deserve a happily ever after.
