Right now, she spends most of her time tucked away and generally comes out at night when the house is quiet to eat and explore. She is easily startled by fast movements and unfamiliar activity. When dogs approach, she will hiss, and she can also hiss when children come toward her too quickly. These reactions seem to come from fear and feeling overwhelmed rather than a desire to be confrontational. For that reason, we think her ideal home would be quiet, calm, and low-key—with no dogs and no young children. A peaceful household where she can have her own safe spaces, plenty of time, and a person willing to let her come out of her shell on her own terms would be perfect. She may not be the kitty who runs up to greet you on day one, but for the right person, watching a very shy cat slowly learn that she is safe can be incredibly rewarding.
