This R&B songstress may be known for her hit "What's Your Play?", but Zya the cat is all about the comeback story she wrote right here at FieldHaven. Zya's story began on the railroad tracks in Marysville, found by some kids who knew something wasn't right. Thankfully, they alerted the neighborhood "cat lady," who stepped in to help. When Zya arrived at our Marysville Cat Resource Center, it was clear she needed help. She was thin and unkempt. She was transferred to our shelter for what we hoped would be a quick stop: a spay surgery, some TLC, and then a fast track to adoption. But Zya had other plans. Our team discovered she was missing fur from both ears and battling an upper respiratory infection. After surgery, she went into a foster home so we could figure out what was causing her discomfort. And then... Zya began grooming herself so intensely that she pulled out her own fur. Something was triggering a severe allergic reactionŚbut what? Her foster family and veterinary team became detectives. They changed litter. Eliminated possible triggers. Investigated every possibility. And finally, the answer: food. It turns out this little foodie was allergic to something she loved mostŚher meals! Once Zya transitioned to a special diet and recovered from her URI, everything changed. Today? - Her beautiful coat has grown back. - She is healthy and happy. - She is ready for her loving home. Zya is a curious, playful girl with gorgeous eyes and a personality that shines.
