How would you describe the cat's general personality?

Lagoon is extremely shy, and seems to have a whole different, playful personality that comes out at night and when I'm out of the home.

Does the cat enjoy being pet? No, the cat has not let me come close enough to try.

Does the cat like to play? yes- he loves catnip toys and seems to get a bit hyper at night.
What are the cat's favorite games and toys?

How vocal is the cat? he has meowed when waiting for food
What kinds of sounds does the cat make? has occasionally hissed when I’ve come too close

Does the cat scratch a scratcher? yes, but also my rugs

What food and frequency is the cat currently eating? breakfast and dinner - wet food, and dry food as a snack

What is the cat's favorite treat? unknown

Does the cat ever swat (claws in) at you? If so, under what circumstances? Has swatted at me once when he was stressed and i came too close

To the best of your knowledge, how does the cat react to new people? Social? Fearful? extremely fearful and avoidant

based on some of my area rugs that i find askew in the morning, he occasionally gets the zoomies at night!

In your opinion, what is the best thing about the cat? Why should an adopter choose THIS cat to adopt?
Lagoon is opening up, very slowly but surely. Initially he hid under my bed and wouldn't come out at all while i was awake. Over the weeks, he has slowly been coming out in the evening. He loves to sit in a windowsill! I think with an extremely patient person, he will come to trust more.

What are the cat's challenges and how have you found to best manage them?

Lagoon is very fearful and not interested in interacting with humans right now. He's made a lot of progress over the weeks, coming out a bit more frequently and hanging out. He loves food and I recently discovered he loves catnip so those have been tools to gain trust.
