Meet Little Bit, a sweet senior girl of approximately 12 years old who is hoping for a rescue partner to give her the comfort and care she deserves. Little Bit was surrendered to the shelter after her owner passed away and their family was unable to continue caring for her. She reportedly lived with her previous owner her entire life and did well in a home with other cats.

Little Bit is medically urgent and in need of a rescue placement, adopter, or foster who can help her receive the care she needs. Her medical exam revealed severe dental disease, and she has recently experienced acute diarrhea. She is in need of a dental cleaning with likely multiple extractions, as well as further care and diagnostics for her other medical concerns.

This adorable, shy girl can be quiet and understandably overwhelmed in the shelter, but she has allowed gentle petting when approached with a calm, reassuring voice. Little Bit deserves the chance to feel safe and comfortable again and to age gracefully in a loving home.

BEHAVIOR NOTES:

On 9/14 per staff: Little Bit ended up getting out of her cage last week, she ran into cat one and then back into cat two under the kennels. She wrapped herself around the wheels and stayed hidden. She allowed one of us to pet her while I undid her tail from around the wheels. We moved the kennels forward and I went behind to grab her. Little Bit gave me no issues and allowed me to hold her until putting her safely away.

On 9/3 per staff: Visited Little Bit after she was moved into new kennel after sedation. Huddled in back of kennel, pupils dilated and occasional lip licking. Offered churu but appeared to be nauseated by the smell (more lip licking and moved away slightly). Spoke to her in a low calm voice and she allowed petting.

Per owner notes:
Little bit is litter trained and is an indoor only cat. When meeting strangers, she hides. Reacts good towards other cats. Her favorite treat is Temptations cat treats!

MEDICAL NOTES:

On 9/13 per staff: Multiple episodes of diarrhea reported

Assessment:
- Severe periodontal disease
- Corneal scarring and conjunctival adhesions OD
- Acute diarrhea
- Mild hyperglobulinemia
- "Grey zone" thyroid level

Plan: Given severe periodontal disease and acute onset diarrhea, Little Bit may require further diagnostics and treatment, repeated thyroid testing in 8-12 weeks, and a dental with multiple extractions.
- In house CBC/chem17/T4: globulin 5.2 g/dl, T4 2.5 ug/dl
- FELV/FIV test: negative/negative
- Fortiflora PO SID x 7 days
- Panacur PO SID x 5 days
- Metronidazole PO BID x 5 days

On 9/3 per staff: Mentation: Bright Alert and Responsive; Body Condition Score (BCS): 5/9; Muscle Condition Score (MCS): 3/3; EENT: Corneal scarring OD. Mild ocular discharge OU; Oral: Severe dental disease, missing 404. No apparent oral masses or foreign bodies; Integument: Flea dirt present, no live fleas.

- Reported intestinal parasites

Plan:
- Treated with capstar and drontal on intake
- Recommend dental with likely extractions
