Meet Blaze: A Little Survivor with a Big Personality!
Blaze is a soft, orange tabby with about 4 months of life behind him and a whole lot of living to catch up on! This spirited boy had a difficult beginning, arriving at the shelter weighing less than one pound and covered in ringworm. His tiny size suggested he was only 3-4 weeks old, but a veterinarian determined he was closer to eight weeks and severely malnourished.
Once safe in FMCA's foster program, Blaze spent several weeks in isolation receiving medication and baths. Through it all, he was such a good boy, patiently allowing his treatment to sit for ten minutes while enjoying gentle massages to help keep him warm. His ringworm culture finally came back clear, and now he is making up for lost playtime!
Think part Tasmanian devil, part determined little chicken hawk from Looney Tunes. Blaze LOVES to wrestle! Because he missed some important time learning kitten manners, he is still figuring out how to interact with other cats. He would do best with a confident, playful feline companion who can match his energy, along with a patient adopter who will help him learn appropriate play. His enthusiastic wrestling style makes a home without young children the best fit.
When his batteries finally run low, Blaze has an unusual favorite retreat: inside a cabinet! He isn't shy; he simply enjoys a small, dark spot for a well-earned nap.
Blaze has already shown remarkable resilience. Now this busy little orange boy is ready for a home filled with play, patience, cozy hideaways, and love.

FOSTER-TO-ADOPT PROGRAM
Not sure if a particular pet will be the perfect match? Our Foster-to-Adopt program is the way to go FMCA's foster-to-adopt program is essentially a trial period so you can be sure your selection is a good fit for your home and family. This is especially helpful if you have other pets and children or just need more time to make a final decision.
FOSTER-TO-ADOPT PROGRAM REQUIREMENTS
The Foster-to-Adoption program requires a fully approved application. Applicant must be 21 years old All applicants must complete an application, undergo a residency and vet verification plus a virtual interview/home visit prior to application approval. We also require a drivers' license, or other form of ID, for each adult in the household.
CAT ADOPTION APPLICATION
We process adoptions through ShelterLuv. The first step is to complete an application:
https://www.shelterluv.com/matchme/adopt/FMCA/Cat
If you do not have a specific pet in mind, please list a general description of what you are looking for, i.e. adult female cat or pair of kittens or unknown, etc. under the section titled "Which animals are you interested in?" This will allow us to quickly determine if we may have what you are looking for readily available or in one of our foster homes still going through the vetting process.
You will hear from us in the next few days. Please note, FMCA is an all-volunteer organization and most of our volunteers work full-time, so please be patient.
After an applicant is fully approved and an appropriate pet is selected, we will coordinate pet transfer. We will stay in touch to monitor during the two-or three-week trial period. If it's a go, we will finalize the adoption electronically. During the trial period, we are always available to help with items such as getting pets settled in, pet introductions and ways to help shy pets acclimate. If things don't work out, the pet will return to FMCA.
Please email us at info@fmca.org with any questions regarding the adoption process.
