Meet Pikachu! This big handsome orange hunk is just the right mix of affectionate and independent. He is a love bug who enjoys being petted and brushed, likes to have a cat tree to climb, and may even find his way onto your lap. :-) In his previous home, Pikachu lived with another cat -- a younger female to whom he was very attached -- and a dog.

This sweet boy is initially afraid of unfamiliar (or less familiar) people. HIs previous family says that he hides when visitors come over. Give him a little time though, and he will come out and rub against their legs.

Pikachu's kryptonite is young children. He has been known to get a little "swatty" with them. This is not uncommon as kids can be "a bit much" for many pets. So PIkachu can only go to a home without kids younger than teens.

When Pikachu's loving human "mom" passed away, he found himself at Frederick County Animal Control. In a cage at the busy animal shelter, Pikachu doesn't "show well" because he is afraid of all the unfamiliar humans around him and can't hide as well as he would like to. Once someone takes the time to sit with him and gain his trust, he shows his loving nature.

Pikachu is about 8 years old and is a big guy at around 14 lbs. He is neutered, up to date on vaccinations, and tested negative for FIV and FeLV. PIkachu appears to be healthy. He had a dental procedure recently with bad teeth extracted. A heart murmur was detected, but follow-up diagnostics (chest X-rays and proBnP) were normal. Pikachu has always had good litter box habits.
