Say hello to Fern, a sweet girl with a gentle personality who is slowly coming out of her shell in foster care.

Fern lived with a person who loved her dearly and shared her home with Fig. The two girls had an indoor/outdoor lifestyle and even raised at least one litter of kittens together. When a neighbor began making threats toward them, their safety became a concern, and they were brought into foster care together.

Fern is a little shy while she gets used to all the changes, but she's becoming more comfortable every day. She's good with other cats and is very comfortable around Fig. They have a shared history and seem to appreciate having a familiar face around, although they don't necessarily need to be adopted together.

She's also curious about dogs. Fern is still nervous when they're around, but she's interested enough to watch them and figure them out from a comfortable distance. She's taking things at her own pace and gaining confidence with each new experience.

Fern is a big fan of wet food and is starting to discover that being close to her people can be pretty nice, too. She's not quite ready to climb into your lap just yet, though. Her preferred version of cuddling is finding a cozy spot under a blanket near you and relaxing while she watches the world go by. Honestly, she may have figured out the perfect arrangement.

Fern may need a little time before she's completely comfortable with someone new, but she's a sweet girl who is learning that people can be a source of safety, affection, and really good snacks.

If you're willing to give a shy girl a little time to come out of her shell, Fern would love the chance to show you what a special companion she can be.
