Darwin - Domestic Short Hair Cat for Adoption in Boca Raton, Florida

Darwin appeared one day in a narrow park by the beach, a place with no shelter, just sand dunes and a little vegetation, with the ocean on one side and a very busy street on the other.
It soon became clear that Darwin had been abandoned. He is approx 1 yr old, was already neutered, and his behavior showed that he had known people before and understood the comfort of a gentle hand.
He was frightened and timid at first, but there was something about him that suggested he remembered what it felt like to be cared for. Somehow, this sweet boy had been left behind to fend for himself in a place where there was nowhere safe to hide.
When Darwin first arrived, he was extremely shy and fearful. He kept his distance from the other cats and wouldn’t even come close to eat. But in just three days, he lost his fear of his surroundings, and the sweet, affectionate kitten underneath began to emerge.
Before he could be rescued, Darwin had to endure two very powerful storms out there in the open, with no real shelter from the wind and rain.
The moment Darwin was rescued, it was as though he knew he was safe. Instead of being frightened, he immediately began purring and asking for cuddles.
He loves to be petted and scratched, and his gentle, affectionate nature is impossible to miss.
It is heartbreaking to think that a cat who so clearly knows the comfort of people was left to survive on his own.
He isn't meant to be living among sand dunes, traffic, storms, and all the dangers of life on the street. He is meant to curl up somewhere safe, feel loved, and have a person of his own.
He is a sweet, gentle, affectionate boy who belongs with people. He belongs somewhere warm and safe, where he can sleep without fear, hear the sound of a loving human voice, and finally know that he is home again.
