Graycee
1. Basic
Graycee
Female
Age 1–2 years
All dark gray
2. Personality
Graycee is a very sweet, easygoing girl. After living outdoors while
caring for her two kittens, she spent a lot of time resting and
recovering when she first came inside. Now that she has settled in, her
personality is really starting to come out.
She loves playing with her kittens, getting pets and belly rubs, and
relaxing near her people. She gets more playful every day and has
adjusted remarkably well to indoor life. She has a mellow, even-keeled
personality and seems very adaptable to new situations.
3. Social Behavior
Graycee enjoys affection, especially when you meet her at her level. She
loves being petted and especially loves belly rubs. She is affectionate
but also independent and likes to decide when it is time for attention.
She is not currently a lap cat and generally prefers having you sit or
get down near her rather than being picked up and carried. She will
tolerate being picked up and held at times, but it isn’t her favorite
form of attention. She has been known to climb onto a lap when food is
involved!
Graycee can occasionally flinch when a hand approaches quickly from
above, which may simply be a holdover from her time living outdoors. She
doesn’t typically run away and continues to become more comfortable and
trusting with people.
4. Health and Care
Spayed
Up to date on vaccines, including distemper and rabies
No medications or special needs
Graycee is a good eater and is somewhat food motivated. She currently
enjoys Purina ONE wet food and Purina Pro Plan Kitten dry food. She was
underweight when she came to us, so she has been sharing the
higher-calorie kitten food with her babies while getting back to a
healthy weight.
5. Adoption Readiness
Graycee seems like she could adapt well to many different homes. She is
comfortable, easygoing and has handled the transition from outdoor life
to being a house cat very well.
She has not yet been introduced directly to other adult cats, although
she has seen them and has not shown a negative reaction. Based on her
personality, we think she may do well with another friendly cat around
her age if introductions are done gradually.
She has not been around dogs while in our care, so we don’t know how she
would respond to one.
Graycee could also be a great choice for someone looking for a sweet,
relatively independent cat who enjoys affection and interaction without
needing to be on your lap all the time.
6. Backstory
Graycee and her two kittens were rescued from a friend’s backyard, where
they had been living as strays on their own. Graycee did a wonderful job
caring for her babies outdoors, and now she is getting the chance to
relax, play and enjoy being cared for herself.
7. Cute Touches
We nicknamed her Momma, which has stuck around even as her kittens have
gotten bigger. She still loves playing with her kids and is often right
in the middle of whatever they’re doing.
