Poi - Domestic Medium Hair Cat for Adoption in Wheaton, Illinois

Poi is a fluffy, affectionate sweetheart with a playful streak and plenty of love to give. Now about 6 years old, she was originally adopted as a kitten and recently returned to the shelter when her owner could no longer care for her.

Poi can be a little shy when meeting new people and adjusting to new surroundings, but with a little patience, her sweet personality quickly shines through. Once she feels comfortable, she loves curling up beside her favorite people, keeping an eye on whatever is happening around the house, and making sure she doesn't miss out on any excitement. She enjoys attention, companionship, and being part of the family.

Poi has previously lived with other cats and may do well with a feline friend after a slow, thoughtful introduction. Her sister Mahalo is also available and would be a good fit if you are looking for two. Poi would thrive in a home that will give her the time she needs to settle in and the love she deserves.

Prior to adoption, every cat in our care is spayed or neutered, microchipped, given age-appropriate vaccinations, treated for parasites, and combo-tested for FIV/FeLV. We make sure each cat is healthy, safe, and ready to thrive in their forever home.

Adoption Fees



Kittens (under 6 months): $175 or 2 for $300


Adults (over 6 months): $150


Seniors (10+) / Special Needs: $100

We cannot hold cats for any reason. Please only apply if you're ready to meet and welcome your new companion within 3 days of applying.


Kittens under 4 months must go to a home with another friendly feline, or be adopted with a buddy. (If a kitten is excluded from this rule, it will be noted in their profile.)
