Sometimes, you meet a cat and it’s clear they’re Legendary. Adoptable Texas Roadhouse is just that cat.
Texas Roadhouse, or Texie, as we call him is a 5 year-old cowcat with a heart just as big as his stomach :) We know he’s named after the steak restaurant, but if we had to describe him in one way, it would probably be like a marshmallow. What can we say? He’s just a big softie!!! Tex loves his people, and his preferred sleeping spot is up against your legs on the foot of the bed. His favorite time of day is the morning, and he’ll give you the best start to every day with his snuggles, purrs, and demands for pets, showing you his fluffy tummy in adoration.
This chonky boy loves food and the way to Texie’s heart is a Churu or a little tuna. (He’d probably love steak, but for obvious reasons, he hasn’t made it to a real Texas Roadhouse restaurant). He loves being around his people, and if you are cooking in the kitchen, he’ll happily be your sous chef.
Texie spent many years outside as a stray in the Ivy City neighborhood, but we suspect he spent his kittenhood inside before being dumped outside. When Texie loves a person, he is very loyal, and he spent all his outdoor days in the yard of the feeder, never straying. He finally came inside and to Justice for Paws Rescue when his dedicated feeder was moving away, and he’s made great strides in learning his new way of life. He will need a patient adopter who will take the time to earn his trust and become his person, helping him adjust to his new indoor space.
Texas Roadhouse is good with other cats and prefers laying with them in a nice sunny spot to roughhousing. He’d also be equally happy as your one and only. Because he can be a bit of a shy guy, we think he would do best in a home without dogs or small children.
Texie is FIV+ but please don't let that scare you! FIV is a virus that affects a cat's immune system - but most cats live normal, full lives. It cannot be passed onto humans or dogs or in casual hangouts like sharing food or sleeping on the same bed. It's typically passed on by deep bite wounds. Texie should be an indoor cat who gets regular vet check-ups, just like any other cat. He is ready to bring love and companionship to whoever adopts him!
So make him yours! Apply today to adopt our sweet boy Texie!
