Aster is proof that some of the most extraordinary cats come in the smallest packages. Born with a very rare condition that caused both of her eyes to be underdeveloped, Aster has been blind since birth. Although she could never see, her eyes were surgically removed to prevent future complications as she grew.

During her recovery, Aster learned to navigate the world in her own uniquely feline way. When introduced to a new space, she simply takes a little time to investigate using her incredible sense of smell and hearing and within minutes, she has often mapped out the room and memorized it just as confidently as any sighted cat.

Don't let her blindness fool you because Aster is just as playful, adventurous, and full of confidence as any other young kitty. She races up and down cat trees, navigates stairs with ease, and even enjoys "bird watching" from the catio near the feeders. And of course, her favorite toys in the world are the little crunchy balls or ones that rattle that she bats around for hours on end, often fetching them and bringing them back to us so we can toss them again. Most people would never realize there's anything different about her until they take a closer look.

Aster reminds us every day that obstacles don't define us. She has overcome every challenge life has placed in front of her and continues to thrive with a joyful spirit and endless curiosity. As if that wasn't enough, she's incredibly social, getting along wonderfully with other cats and having a special soft spot for dogs, often rubbing against them in search of affection.
