Toad first came to us as a mess. He earned his name after yelling for food, where we discovered his unique meow, sounding exactly like a frog. When we did his bloodwork for his senior panel, we discovered Toad had diabetes, as well as a UTI. We started him on antibiotics for his UTI and insulin for the diabetes, as well as consistently measuring his blood sugar and switching him to a high-protein diet. After a few rounds of insulin, we discovered Toad's blood sugar was getting normal, so much so we didn't give him insulin for days. After a few weeks of not having to give him insulin, we retested his blood, finding out his diabetes appeared to be gone. Our veterinarian discussed the case with an internist at our laboratory company and they determined he had something called Transient Diabetes.

He is still on a high-protein dry food, but we are going to see how his body reacts to regular Purina dry food. Toad is a doll with other cats. While cleaning his enclosure, he would wander around our warehouse, making his rounds and checking on all the cats. He adored watching the kittens play and liked to just lay by cats and watch their daily routines. There's not a mean bone in his body. He truly has the kindest soul and will make biscuits while you hold him. He is finally figuring out how to play and loves to carry little sparkly ball toys around in his mouth. He would do best in a home with another cat or multiple, or with someone who never leaves and will let him get love all day. Although, you will have white fur all over!
