A neighbor asked us to help with Vanessa, a 4 month old kitten. Her granddaughter's boyfriend had given the kitten to her as a gift. So naturally the kitten ended up with Grandma, who is in no position to care for her. She didn't want to put her on the street so we took her in. This is a good reminder: pets aren't gifts. If you want to give a pet to someone you better make sure they're involved from jump street. This is exactly why shelters are always full; people get pets without any real thought and discard them just as easily. Let's do better!

Meanwhile, Nessa is so much fun. She is very high energy and very vocal. She would be great with an energetic adult cat who needs someone to chase around the house. She's also very affectionate and will march right onto your lap for cuddles.
