Artemis - Domestic Long Hair Cat for Adoption in New York, New York

Artemis (Arti) is a sweet, playful, female domestic longhair. Her coat is completely grey. She was found at about 8 weeks old hiding inside a Lincoln car engine in Ridgewood. Through the efforts of a few kind neighbors, she was caught and placed with her foster and 2 resident cats Miso (M, 6) and Freddie (F, 3).

Her birthday is estimated to be March 28, 2026. She has been spayed, microchipped, and vaccinated for rabies and FVRCP. She did test positive for FIV but this is likely only due to shared antibodies from her mother. We're happy to provide a retest at 6 months of age for free.

She loves head butts, rubs and scritches along her back and tail, and is generally easy to handle. She can be coaxed out of hiding spots if you show her the back of your hand for pets. She purrs loudly when being petted or held. She is still getting used to being brushed and having her nails trimmed. She is well socialized and grooms herself (and the other resident cats) without any issues.

Her favorite toys are springs, stuffed mice, and the ribbon wand. She loves to chase and wrestle. She also does well playing on her own, especially if she has a tunnel to "hunt" in. She likes to climb, but hasn't shown interest in things like curtains or shelves, just cat towers and window ledges. She is vocal in the morning and when she's getting sleepy. She's not overly cuddly, but does prefer to be near her foster or one of the other cats most of the time. She will approach you when she wants pets or snuggles.

She is currently eating Sheba Kitten pate, with a small amount of Purina Kitten Chow. She seems to prefer salmon and chicken flavors. She is starting to enjoy Churu, but isn't super motivated by it. She drinks well from a stainless steel water fountain.

Arti must be adopted into a home with other cats. It is unknown how she would interact with children, though based on her nature she would probably be fine. She is still learning boundaries with adult cats, but responds well to their correction. She would do well in a home where she can get lots of attention and play. She's a vocal and high-energy love bug!
