Meet Jojo! Jojo is a beautiful Hahn's Macaw looking for a very special home after the heartbreaking loss of his owner. This major life change has understandably been difficult for him, and he is searching for a patient, experienced adopter who will give him the time and understanding he needs to feel safe again.
Jojo has a history of feather plucking, likely brought on by stress and anxiety. He is currently not fully comfortable being handled and will attempt to bite if pushed. We believe much of this behavior is related to the significant changes in his life, but his future family should be prepared to work at his pace and respect his boundaries as trust is rebuilt.
One thing Jojo has no shortage of is personality and volume! Like many macaws, he is incredibly vocal and loves to scream. He is not a good fit for anyone looking for a quiet companion. His new family should expect daily loud vocalizations and appreciate that this is a normal part of living with a macaw.
Despite being the smallest member of the macaw family, Hahn's Macaws have huge personalities. They are highly intelligent, playful, and capable of forming deep bonds with their people. They require plenty of mental stimulation, enrichment, and opportunities to chew, forage, and explore. With consistency, patience, and positive reinforcement, many Hahn's Macaws thrive and become wonderful lifelong companions.
Jojo is looking for an experienced bird owner who understands parrot body language, is comfortable working with a bird that needs time to adjust, and is committed to providing the enrichment, veterinary care, and lifelong dedication that parrots require.
