Henrietta is one of a group of rabbits found running loose in a neighborhood in Gotha. An Orange County deputy spotted them on his way home, was able to wrangle two of them, and contacted Orange County Animal Services to help catch the rest. After a short stay at the county shelter, ORCA was able to bring them into the rescue due to the kindness of one of our current foster families. All of the rabbits had fleas and ear mites, and Henrietta required an emergency spay because of an unusual finding noted in her abdomen at her very first vet appointment. During surgery, her uterus and two longunviable fetuses were removed — a heartbreaking discovery, but one that likely saved her life.
Please note: All bunnies adopted through ORCA receive full veterinary care upon intake, and Henrietta's story is a powerful reminder of why that matters.
Henrietta is a feisty and spicy bun with a lot of personality and strong opinions. The majority of her day is spent brooding over her luxurious dewlap. She is willing to accept full body massages and her ears perk up at attention when her cheeks are rubbed. If the vibe is right, she will also accept an airlift to sit on a lap for additional attention and scratches. When you get on her bad side she clucks in disapproval, but Henrietta freely forgives any and all transgressions after several treats. After playtime with humans, she likes to retreat to her security blanket or small box to decompress. She doesn't love dogs but will tolerate them if they are well-behaved. Kids are tolerable, but must treat her with the respect her highness deserves. Henrietta is a beautiful, resilient bunny who has already overcome more than most rabbits ever should. From here on out her life only gets brighter!
We adopt to indoor homes only! If you are interested in adopting a bunny from Orlando Rabbit Care and Adoptions, or would like more information on rabbit care, please visit our website at: http://www.orlandorabbit.org. The first step in our adoption process is to complete an adoption application, which can be found here: https://petstablished.com/adoption_form/55856/generic . Then one of our volunteers will reach out to you via email to schedule a time to speak with you. If you don't see the email in a day or two, please check your spam folder.
Our Adoption Fee/Donation for a single rabbit is $100, a pair is $170, and a triple is $200. This helps to offset the cost of having the rabbits altered, microchipped and vaccinated, as well as any medical care that may have been required.
