A month ago, Sip and Slurp came to Dolly’s after spending years in atrocious conditions. Slurp had been paralyzed for weeks without proper care. By the time he reached us, his condition was so poor that he had maggots in his body. There was nothing kind left that we could do, except let him go peacefully.
We hoped we could at least save Sip.
But even getting to us nearly killed her.
They had been transported in the back of a truck during horrible summer heat and Sip arrived suffering from severe heatstroke. She could barely breathe. She was drooling heavily, couldn’t walk, and was minutes away from dying.
We started cooling her off immediately.
And then something incredible happened.
While I was sending Slurp over the rainbow bridge, Sip started moving again.
Then she stood.
The rabbit we thought might be paralyzed too could WALK. Her inability to move hadn’t been permanent - she’d been so dangerously overheated that her body was shutting down.
Today, Sip is alive.
Slurp should be too.
