Amos - New Zealand Rabbit for Adoption in Oak Park, Illinois

Meet Amos! This young man is such a gentleman and we are so excited to be helping him find his forever home. Amos came to us as a transfer from another area shelter that needed our help. He was originally found as an abandoned stray outdoors where he most likely had been for a long time. He showed signs of this after having a botfly removed from the lower back area of his body (ouch!) which usually happens to rabbits who are living outdoors. He has gone through so much hardship already in his short life but we see a bright future ahead for him!

We believe Amos is at the most a year old and is a beautiful red-eyed white (REW) New Zealand. He will grow a bit with age so he will be a larger sized rabbit at over 5-6 pounds. We love all rabbits but REWs are some of our favorites! They are often passed on by adopters because of their pink eyes but we think they are spectacular.

Amos is a curious sweetheart with a gentle side. He is still gaining trust and confidence because he's never had a loving home but once he settles in, he shows his trusting side and can be himself. He is smart, loving and full of wonder for his surroundings. So far, he has been very good with his litter box! He is also very interested in other rabbits and would love to find a rabbit girlfriend to cuddle with. If you have a single female rabbit that is spayed and up to date on her RHDV2 vaccination, Amos would love to meet her!

His ideal home would be a large rabbit-proofed space or home where he can free roam for most of his time. He would love it to be quiet and low stress as well.
