Hakuna and Matata - Lionhead Rabbit for Adoption in Saint Charles, Missouri

A couple of weeks ago, we were just about to lock up and head home when the phone rang.

On the other end was a man who said he was moving the very next day. He didnt have a plan for his bunnies.

If we didn't take his rabbits, he kept saying they would "be in danger." He repeated over and over that he "didn't want to have to harm them" and "didn't want to do what he was going to have to do."

Talk about a fully grown adult man with the emotional bandwidth of a Capri Sun. I've seen rabbits with better emotional regulation.

Unfortunately, threats like that aren't uncommon. We hear them far more often than we'd like. But this one felt different. The extreme tantrum-to-age ratio was concerning. He was angry, frantic, and we weren't willing to risk calling his bluff.

So we put our bags back down, unlocked the doors, and waited.

A little while later, he arrived with a pair of 6 month old sisters he had purchased from Rural King.

The girls were matted, so we gave them much needed haircuts, got them settled in, did their primary exams, and they're now relaxing in one of our foster homes while they wait for their spays.

Things have been so unbelievably busy around here that we're just now getting around to introducing them.
