This sweet bunny was found dumped in Prospect Park and thankfully was scooped up and carried home by his finder who is now his foster. He's a gentle, quiet guy who seems happy to hang out, explore, and accept some attention. He has been especially wonderful around children, including very excited children—which, honestly, who wouldn't be excited to meet a bunny?! He has handled all the enthusiasm with impressive patience.
Pickles is already starting to understand the idea of using a litter box and shows a lot of promise. We think he'll continue to improve as he settles into a routine.
He is also an excellent eater! So far he has happily enjoyed lettuce, carrot greens, and spinach (in moderation). He loves his pellets and hay, too.
Most of all, Pickles seems like a bunny who is just grateful to be safe. After being abandoned in the park, he has been remarkably trusting and sweet. We're still getting to know him and discovering his personality, but everything we've seen so far makes us think this handsome guy has the makings of a wonderful companion.
Pickles may have had a rough start, but he's ready for the next chapter — one that involves a safe indoor home, plenty of hay, lots of love, and never being left in a park again.
Pickles will be neutered in the next couple of months, once he is old enough.
