Rocket Ship is living in a foster home. Please complete an application and email dogs@heartlandanimalshelter.org if you are interested in learning more and arranging a time to meet him!
Rocket Ship, or Rocky, as his foster calls him, is a young yorkie mix who found himself at a rural rescue in Alabama that we partner with frequently. Potential adopters are few and far between in that part of the state, so when the volunteer transport asked if he could hitch a ride with them to Heartland, we were ready to welcome him with open arms!
Rocket's fosters describe him as an affectionate dog who loves to be part of the family. He greets them at the door, loves to sit in laps, and prefers to sleep in bed with someone at night. He likes playing with toys and walking outside, but his preference is to be cuddling right next to a person!
At just around 10 months old, Rocket is still learning the basics like house training and leash skills. His foster family takes him for walks frequently but he does still use training pads as well. We are told if he doesn't feel like walking, he will just lay on the ground, and will sometimes launch a hunger strike if the menu doesn't meet his discerning tastes. He's a guy who knows what he wants!
Rocket would benefit from puppy training and socialization as he continues to learn how to be a well mannered dog. He will return the favor with all the snuggles you could ask for.
Rocket Ship's adoption fee is $375. This animal is spayed/neutered, up to date on core vaccines, and Heartworm negative.
