Whiskey is a 9 year old Yorkshire mix dog who is sweet as can be. He has an interesting past but a bright future. Whiskey was recently rescued from a hoarding situation by a well-meaning family. He came flea infested which the family promptly took care of. Within a week they had Whiskey in to their personal vet who ran lots of tests. Whiskey has a bit of a heart murmur and appears to have some kidney disease although it seems mild.
It was at this point the family decided he was more than they had bargained for and worked to surrender him to the humane society in their area. The humane society could not take him for a week and the family didn't want to wait. They took him to an ER vet to have him euthanized. It was there that a vet tech said, "no, this boy is too sweet, too healthy, and too deserving of a better life". She reached out to Brown Paws Rescue and that is how Whiskey has now found himself in a safe place.
Whiskey will be having dental surgery August 7th and a evaluation by that vet to see what Whiskey needs or doesn't need. More information will be available then. But, as his foster, I'm telling you - you couldn't find a sweeter boy. Whiskey loves hanging out with you. Walks well on a leash. Crates quietly. He is working on potty training. Right now he wears a male wrap and more and more often it is dry and he is holding his potty for outside. He's getting the idea that normal family homes are different than hoarding homes.
Whiskey knows the right family is out there for him. He just needs a place to call home.
