Meet Pluto – A Tiny Gentleman with a Big Personality!
13 years old Male 8 lbs Yorkie Gray & Tan
Some dogs wear their hearts on their sleeves, and others need a little time to let you into their world. Meet Pluto, an adorable 8-pound Yorkie with the soul of an old man, the sass of a cat, and a quirky little personality that will make you smile every day.
Pluto came into rescue as a stray after his family didn't reclaim him. We don't know everything he's been through, but we do know that he needs a patient, understanding person who will let him build trust at his own pace. He may not be an instant cuddle bug, but give this sweet boy time, kindness, and a little chicken or cheese, and you'll discover a very special companion. Once he trusts you, his sweet, silly personality really starts to shine!
Here's what makes Pluto so special:
- A little independent: Pluto is a bit like a cat in a dog's body! He enjoys doing his own thing but will come looking for affection when he's ready.
- A playful old soul: He loves little crinkly toys and playing fetch, as long as you don't throw the ball too far! He also has adorable little zoomies that show off his fun-loving side.
- Low-energy companion: Pluto is happiest with a peaceful routine, short play sessions, walks, and plenty of relaxing time.
- Cat-friendly: He peacefully ignores the cats in his foster home, even when they occasionally swat at him.
- Small-dog friendly: He does well with dogs his own size and enjoys peacefully coexisting with them. He is reactive toward larger dogs, so a home without big dogs would be best.
- A quiet roommate: Pluto rarely barks, making him a potentially lovely companion for a quieter home or apartment.
- Crate-trained: He does wonderfully in his crate and mostly snoozes while his foster family is away.
Pluto has been around children and is gentle with them, but because he can be fearful, a home with respectful children ages 6 and up would be best. He is cautious with new people and may walk away to his safe space rather than seek attention right away. He also prefers gentle pets under his chin and on his chest instead of reaching over his head. Let him come to you, respect his boundaries, and you'll be rewarded with a sweet little friend who chooses you as his person.
At 13 years old, Pluto does have a few special considerations. He wears diapers because he isn't fully house-trained, and his foster family suspects he may be experiencing some vision and hearing loss. He still enjoys going outside, taking walks, playing with his toys, and exploring life at his own pace. He may be a little stubborn, but that's part of his charm! He even has a funny habit of sneezing when he's feeling sassy. And if he thinks he deserves a spot on the bed, he'll let you know!
Pluto would thrive in a calm, loving home with someone who understands that trust takes time. He doesn't need a marathon runner or a packed social calendar. He needs a soft bed, a predictable routine, gentle affection, and a person who will love him exactly as he is. His foster mom describes him as a gentle, quirky little guy with so much personality and plenty of love left to give.
Could you be Pluto's person?
