Marshall #11 is a handsome 10 1/2-year-old purebred yellow Labrador Retriever who weighs in with a lifetime of love, loyalty, and devotion to give. This sweet senior boy has spent his entire life with one family and is now searching for a new home through no fault of his own.
Marshall was welcomed into his family as a puppy and grew up alongside two young boys who are now 17 and 19 years old. He has been a cherished family member every step of the way. He is wonderful with people, loves everyone he meets, and has the gentle, easygoing temperament that Labradors are known and loved for. He does well with older children, enjoys the company of other dogs, and walks ok on the leash, especially when wearing a harness.
One of Marshall's favorite comforts is his crate. Unlike many dogs, he genuinely loves it and will happily retreat there to sleep, relax, and feel secure.
Marshalls story is a heartbreaking one. His family loved him deeply and exhausted every possible option to keep him. A child in the home with autism had shared a very special bond with Marshall for years, even sleeping beside him each night. As the child grew older, behavioral changes led to self-injurious episodes that were sometimes triggered by Marshalls normal movements. During these episodes, the child would strike his own chest, frightening Marshall and creating an increasingly difficult situation for everyone involved.
Faced with an impossible choice, the family made the painful decision to surrender Marshall so that both their child and their beloved dog could have the safe, stable environments they each deserve.
Marshall is truly a victim of circumstance. He has done nothing wrong. He is simply a kind, loving dog whose world was unexpectedly turned upside down.
Now, this sweet senior is looking for a family willing to open their hearts and home to him for his golden years. He deserves a warm bed, gentle hands, and a family who will treasure him as much as he will treasure them.
If youre looking for a loyal companion with a heart of gold, please consider giving Marshall the second chance he so deserves. He may be 1012 years old, but his capacity to love is timeless.
