Meet Tanner!

Tanner is a 2-year-old white Labrador with a story that shows just how resilient and loving rescue dogs can be.

His story began while he was roaming an area known for having many stray dogs. Local street feeders became familiar with Tanner and had even seen him survive being attacked by a pack of dogs. Wanting to keep him safe, they eventually picked him up and brought him to the local animal shelter.

Unfortunately, because the shelter was overcrowded, Tanner later found himself at risk of being euthanized simply due to lack of space. Thankfully, he was saved just in time and given the second chance he deserved.

Today, Tanner is being fostered by the same family who once helped feed him on the streets. He is now learning what it feels like to be safe, loved, and part of a family.

Tanner is a large boy, weighing in at 68.4 pounds, but don’t let his size fool you — he is pure gentleness, love, and sweetness. He has such a lovable personality and truly just wants to be close to his people.

Tanner does wonderfully with other dogs and truly enjoys having a furry companion around. He has also been around children and does well with them. Tanner has encountered cats in passing as well and has shown zero aggression toward them. While he has not lived full-time with a cat, his interactions so far have been calm and positive.

One thing Tanner is not a fan of is being kenneled. He appears to become very uncomfortable in tight, enclosed spaces, and a kennel can be scary for him. Because of this, Tanner would do best with a family that understands his discomfort and is willing to work with him patiently rather than expecting him to spend long periods confined in a crate.

One of Tanner’s absolute favorite things is being outside. He loves going for walks, exploring, and spending time in the fresh air. If Tanner could design his perfect day, it would probably include plenty of outdoor time followed by coming inside to relax with his people. He would be an amazing companion for someone who enjoys long walks, hiking, exploring, or simply spending time outdoors.

But Tanner has a soft side too. After a day of adventures, he turns into a complete snuggle bug. He would happily curl up next to you in the evening and settle in for a good Netflix show.

After everything Tanner has experienced, he deserves a home that will give him the love, patience, security, and tender care he has always deserved.
