Two hearts, searching for one home! Sweetie and Margie would love to stay together and here is a little bit about each of them! If they sound like a good fit for you, please send in your application!
Sweetie, a Chihuahua mix is a pocket-sized cutie, around 4 years old. Because she barks and grumbles she might seem mean, but really shes just scared at first. She loves to be held and cuddled by someone who makes her feel safe. Otherwise, you will find her curled up hiding under a blanket. She loves her chew bones and may protect them, but never guards her food (this behavior is able to be improved with training & management!). She uses puppy pads and prefers to be an indoor-only dog. When youre this tiny, the world outside can seem like a scary place! All she wants is to feel safe and loved!
Margie is a typical terrier and likes to bark to alert you to, well, lots of things! This 2-3 year old girl loves attention and would be content just cuddling all day long. She can be a little forceful with her affection! She doesnt understand personal space and just gets so excited to give lots of love and kisses. Everyone could use more love in their lives, right? She is also puppy pad trained and dog-friendly.
*Approved applicants are welcome to participate in our popular Slumber Party program and take a dog home for up to 2 weeks to make sure he/she is a great fit.
If you think you might be interested in adopting, your first step should be to complete an Adoption Application at www.caninerescue.org. *After you have completed your application, you will get a confirmation that we have received your application. It takes a lot of time to process the applications, so we ask for your patience while we do so. If you see that the dog you were interested in has been adopted it means there were many applications for that dog and we did not get as far processing your application before a home was found. We welcome you to apply again when you see another dog that interests you. If you have a question, please email us at adoptions@caninerescue.org. It is much easier and quicker for us to respond by email as we receive many phone calls each day.
We do adopt out of state, however we do not transport or ship dogs. Potential adopters must be able and willing to travel to the Rescue to meet the dog they are interested in.
*PLEASE double check all of the phone numbers that you provide. If they are incorrect, we will not be able to process your application. Please also let your references know that someone from NCCR will be calling them. Most adoption team members call from their personal phone, so advise your references that there may be an unknown or private number calling them. Thank you!
