MEET MAIKA!

Say hello to Maika, an 11-month-old, 34-pound bundle of joy with a heart full of love! This sweet girl is playful, curious, affectionate, and always ready for a new adventure.

Maika loves exploring the outdoors, running at the dog park, playing with other dogs, sniffing her way along park trails, and cuddling up after a nice walk. And when she runs—she is FAST!

She has a gentle, well-balanced nature and does wonderfully with kids, dogs, and even cats. Maika can be a little shy when meeting new people, but with patience, love, and encouragement, she blossoms into a loyal and affectionate companion.

HER IDEAL HOME

Maika would thrive in a home with another friendly, confident dog who can help her continue building confidence. She could also be happy as the only dog with an adopter who is willing to introduce her to new people, places, and experiences and help her discover how wonderful the world can be.

MAIKA’S STORY

Maika and her sisters, Maggy and Mandy, were abandoned overnight in a box outside a shelter and found scared, cold, and hungry.

Thankfully, our partner rescue, SOS El Arca Animal Rescue, stepped in. Maika was raised in a safe and loving environment, where she grew into the beautiful, sweet-natured dog she is today.

Maika is currently fostered in New York by a family with two dogs, and she has adapted beautifully. She shares her toys nicely, plays well with her foster sisters, and loves going with her foster parents to the local dog park.

SMART & READY TO LEARN

Maika is smart, eager to please, and food-motivated, making her a wonderful candidate for obedience training classes. She is also crate trained and potty trained. She sleeps through the night and quickly learned her daily routine.

Maika is comfortable being alone for a few hours. Her foster family uses a crate while they are away to provide her with structure and consistency, and she has adapted well to this routine.

• Up to date on vaccinations
• 4DX tested — negative
• On flea, tick, and heartworm prevention
• Dewormed

The Whippet is a sleek and graceful breed known for its agility and speed, with origins dating back to Victorian England. These affectionate and gentle dogs make excellent companions for families and individuals alike, excelling in various activities such as lure coursing and obedience training. With their slender build and short coat, Whippets are low maintenance when it comes to grooming but require regular exercise to keep them healthy and happy.
