Walter
📍 Monroe, NC
🐾 Weimaraner Male 1 1/2 years old 44 lbs
Walter is a young, energetic Weimaraner who is still very much a puppy at heart. He came into rescue after living with little structure, and he's now learning what it means to be a well-mannered house dog. He has made great progress in foster care, but will need an adopter committed to continuing his training.
Walter is a friendly, affectionate, and social dog who enjoys being around people and loves attention. He has no signs of aggression and tends to be more submissive in new situations. He does well with other dogs, but his play style is very enthusiastic, so any resident dogs should be tolerant and enjoy an active companion. He does not require another dog in the home as long as he has plenty of human interaction.
As a young working breed, Walter has high energy levels and will need daily exercise and mental stimulation. He is currently learning leash manners and basic obedience. He is smart and eager to please, but like many young dogs, he can become distracted and will benefit from consistent training and routine.
Walter is:
• Crate trained (sleeps quietly through the night)
• Working on house training (currently managed on a schedule)
• Up to date on vaccinations and preventatives
• Heartworm negative
• Recently neutered
He eats twice daily and is currently on Purina Pro Plan Beef & Bison, along with monthly Simparica Trio.
Walter would do best in an active home that can provide structure, continued training, and regular exercise. Because of his energy and enthusiasm, supervision around small children is recommended. Cats are unknown.
Walter is a happy, loving dog with a lot of potential. With the right home, he will grow into a wonderful and loyal companion.
