Darby and Dexter are a bonded pair of senior Weimaraners looking for a family that can given them love and companionship during their golden years. These adorable boys have been loved by their original owner since they were puppies, but through unforeseen and unfortunate circumstances, their owner has had to make the heartbreaking decision to re-home both boys. We are thankful that we have been asked to assist and are hoping to find them a Weimaraner-loving individual or family, that has a lot of time to spend with two gentle and mellow seniors to make their golden years comfortable, and full of affection and happiness.
Darby is 11 years-old, and is content relaxing and lounging most of the day. He still gets excited to go to the park or on 15-20 minute walks. At the park, he prefers to find a shady spot and relax. Darby is good on leash and may just need to take it a little bit slower than his brother. He is a super sweet boy who loves being with his humans, and soaks up affection and cuddles. When meeting new people, he may bark initially, but warms up quickly. He does well around other dogs.
Dexter is 9 years-old and still a puppy at heart. Just like his brother, Dexter is able to relax for much of the day, yet still has plenty of energy for walks and romps in the park. His favorite activity besides running in the park is to play fetch with a ball. At home, he likes to carry one of his toys or bones around with him at all times. Dexter is a true velcro dog, being happiest at his human’s side and, much like his brother, loves affection and is super sweet. For his original owner, he has done very well off leash but also does ok on leash. Even though he usually doesn’t pay much attention when other dogs are around, he generally does well with other dogs.
Both Darby and Dexter are crate-trained, and current with vaccines. For their age, both dogs are in good health. Darby is on a daily joint supplement for occasional arthritis flare-ups and needs a some assistance to get into a car, as jumping has become more challenging for him. Generally, Darby and Dexter are well behaved and definitely bonded with each other, we will only consider placement for both of them together.
We prefer to first communicate by email, to provide an opportunity with anyone interested to learn more about the dogs prior to requesting an application for adoption.
