Lil Lucy - Terrier and Mixed Breed Dog for Adoption in Washington, District Of Columbia

Lil Lucy is looking for their forever home!

WHAT MY FOSTER SAYS: Lucy is a one-year-old mix of Great Pyrenees, American Pit Bull Terrier, American Stafford Terrier, and Boxer. She is spayed, microchipped, and up to date on vaccinations.

Lucy is wonderful with kids (toddlers and up), as well as other dogs-including small dogs-and even cats. She has been trained to play gently, by her foster-mate Rue (a 12-pound mix) and loves companionship and snuggles.

Her personality is affectionate and sweet. She loves to cuddle and prefers being close to her people. She is gentle, giving her special Lucy "nose kisses" and being very mindful never to lick or slobber. (Small detail but worth mentioning!)

Lucy's energy level is high at first in a new environment, but after settling in, she enjoys naps and a relaxed routine. She plays inside in the morning but does well with a single long walk (after work) most days.

She is house-trained and crate-trained, though she prefers sleeping near you. Lucy walks well on leash, is very treat-motivated, and knows basic commands like sit, down, up, stay, and our favorite recent command: "potty," for cold/late walks before bed.

She has no known dietary restrictions, but she is a strong chewer, so durable toys are best.
Lucy is currently located in Alexandria, VA. Her foster family is happy to arrange weekend meet-ups.

ATTRIBUTES: Lil Lucy does well with other dogs.

The mixed breed dogs, often referred to as mutts, are a diverse and unique group with a blend of different characteristics from various purebred dog breeds. These dogs come from a mixture of lineages, resulting in a wide range of sizes, coat types, and temperaments. While each mixed breed dog is distinct in its own right, they are known for their resilience, adaptability, and often have fewer health issues compared to purebred dogs due to their genetic diversity. Mixed breed dogs make wonderful companions for families looking for a loyal and one-of-a-kind pet.

The terrier is a spirited and intelligent dog breed known for its feisty personality and boundless energy. Terriers come in various sizes and coat types, but they all share a common heritage as fearless and determined hunters. These dogs are typically highly trainable, making them versatile companions for active individuals and families alike. With their loyalty and playful demeanor, terriers are beloved for their endless enthusiasm and affectionate nature.
