Are you looking for the bestest boy around?? Do you want a low maintenance best friend? How about unconditional love, cuddles and sloppy kisses?
Let's talk about WILBERT!
Wilbert is a 2+ year old Chocolate Lab/ Terrier mix, 65 pounds, that excels at happy fun playtime, whether by himself, with people or with his foster brother and sister.
He is an easy going guy that rarely barks, and is happy spending most of his time relaxing in the house, laying with a human or dog friend on the backyard swing, or walking the neighborhood, but when play time calls, he is in with all four paws!
He is playful, goofy, and eager to please, makes friends easily with people or dogs.
Wilbert loves to play in water, splashing happily by himself in the baby pool, or wading in a creek or lake. He is unbothered by rain and plays, walks and potties in the wet weather with no concerns! And after all that he dries incredibly quickly with his Labrador double coat and without wet dog smell.
He has made contacts with our cats ( who can retreat to their dog-free basement), and remained cool and calm, with interest, and is eager for them to come up and play.
This happy boy loves to ride in the car to meet and visit people and places. He was a perfect gentleman on a recent trip to the incredible smelling Petsmart, and also hung out making friends and holding court on the patio at a recent Grey Fox Pub event
A few of his highlights:
-house trained
-crate trained, enters on his own and sleeps through the night.
- a proficient walker, he loves exploring the neighborhood
- No resource guarding.
- no anxiety. Wilbert spent 2-1/2 months living in the shelter, and managed to keep up his "Wilbert" attitude, and became a staff favorite while he was there.
- laid back and casual through most of the day, he is a master of play time, and thrives when he gets regular exercise.
- low prey drive, he will stop and stare at bunnies and squirrels , but will move along with a nudge and a treat.
- brave and confident, he is completely unafraid of vacuum cleaners and thunderstorms
- he comes equipped with spare toes on his back paws (polydactyl)
-Wilbert has quickly picked up on the rules and regulations of his foster home, such as knocking at the back door to come in, entering his kennel when requested, how to enjoy treats respectfully together with foster sibs, and most importantly, when and where treat times are.
Wilbert is a sweet loving soul, who doesn't know a stranger, and would love a family to call his own.
He is very easy going, with no anxiety or aggression, and we believe he could thrive in most any family situation, becoming part of the family with little issue, and in a home with or without other pets.
Could you consider giving Wilbert a forever home of his own?
