Meet Kirby!
Hi there! My name is Kirby, and I'm a 5-year-old Terrier mix with a big heart and an even bigger personality.
My story has had a few twists and turns. I was originally adopted by a wonderful family, but when they welcomed a new baby, they weren't able to keep me anymore. So I came back to Heartland.
I waited...and waited. Nearly five years passed while I lived in a kennel, hoping someone would give me another chance. During that time, I was lucky enough to spend some time in a foster home with some amazing Notre Dame students, and it was everything I had dreamed of. I got to sleep in a real home, be part of a family, and remember what it felt like to be loved.
Then I was adopted again! I thought I had found my forever home. Unfortunately, things didn't work out. I was returned after I kept escaping the yard, and I ended up at the humane society. Thankfully, Heartland welcomed me back with open arms. But now, here I am once again...back in a kennel, waiting for someone to see the amazing dog I truly am.
Could that someone be you?
I'm a friendly, happy guy who loves people of all ages, including kids! I'm an active boy who would love to join you for walks, jogs, hikes, or any adventure you have planned. When the day is done, I'm convinced I'm actually a lap dog, because curling up next to my favorite humans is one of my favorite things in the world.
Here's a little more about me:
- 5-year-old Terrier mix
- Friendly and affectionate
- Loves walks, runs, and staying active
- Professional lap dog
- Housebroken
- Great with kids
- Can do well with dogs that match my energy
- No cats, please!
Whether you're looking to adopt or foster, I would love the chance to finally have the home I've been dreaming about. I've been waiting a long time, but I haven't given up hope. Maybe my forever family is reading this right now.
Could you be the happy ending to my story?
All dogs are spayed/neutered, up to date on vaccinations, heartworm tested negative ( puppies age 7 months and older) and microchipped. A puppy's adoption fee is $50. There is a $5 fee for credit/debit cards.
