Introducing Stella— a sweet 15-year-old girl who is finally discovering what it means to be loved, safe, and part of a family.
For most of Stella’s life, the streets were all she knew. She had to figure out where her next meal would come from, where she would sleep, and how to simply survive. We believe Stella was likely a mama at different points throughout her life, but now her days of surviving are finally behind her. Since coming into our care, Stella has been fully vetted and is ready for the chapter she has always deserved: a loving forever family.
Stella is currently living in a foster home with dogs of all different ages and sizes and does wonderfully with them. She is learning that soft beds are much better than sleeping on the streets, that cozy blankets and couches are pretty wonderful, and that meals are something she can count on every single day rather than something she has to go searching for.
More than anything, Stella is learning what it feels like to be someone’s beloved companion. She would love nothing more than to spend her days close to her people, soaking up all the love and attention she missed out on for so many years. She loves nothing more than curling up beside you on the couch during your favorite TV show and soaking up all the cuddles, while also enjoying a little independence before snuggling under the covers with you for a cozy night’s sleep.
Because Stella spent so much of her life living outdoors, her new family will need to understand that accidents may occasionally happen while she continues learning the routines of being a house dog. She has already made wonderful progress and is learning how to be a homebody, especially when her family is attentive to taking her outside whenever she needs.
The best fit for Stella would be someone who is home throughout the day, ideally a retired individual or couple who is simply looking for a sweet companion to love for the rest of her days. Stella doesn’t need an adventurous lifestyle or a family looking for a young, energetic dog. She needs someone who will appreciate the beauty of giving a senior dog a soft place to land and who will cherish every day they get to spend together.

Stella is currently being fostered in Spring Branch, Texas. While we proudly adopt throughout the United States, because of Stella’s age, we are specifically looking for a local forever family within the surrounding areas.
