Dandy is a special girl who's had quite the glow-up since coming into our care. She was pulled from the euthanasia list at a rural shelter in South Carolina, her body mostly bald and itchy from demodectic mange (which is NOT contagious). Even in her very uncomfortable state, she has remained the sweetest, most loving puppy. She's now almost fully recovered, with most of her hair grown back in, and is ready to find her forever home where she will be loved and cared for forever.Dandy seems to be housebroken when given frequent potty breaks, and has been doing great with using the outdoors independently when given access. She is not destructive, and is learning her routines quickly. She is very people-oriented and LOVES to snuggle. She'd even sleep right in bed with you if allowed. Now that she's feeling better, she is briming with that typical puppy energy, and loves to play. She would love a fenced yard to run around in, as she is still learning how to walk nicely on a leash. She'd also enjoy a playful canine companion, though she doesn’t necessarily need one (as long her humans are willing to help her burn off some energy). Once she gets some playtime, she settles in nicely for naps and relaxing.Dandy has lived with children, and did well around them, though she may be too rambunctious for littles. She’s also lived with cats, and shows interest in wanting to play, so dog-savvy, confident cats or a home willing to continue guiding those interactions would be ideal.Dandy is spayed, microchipped, up to date on vaccinations, flea/tick & heartworm prevention, and her adoption fee is $300.
All Mountain Pet Rescue (Asheville) animals are up-to-date on vaccinations, spayed/neutered and micro-chipped before adoption. Contact the foster parent or Mountain Pet Rescue at pets@mpravl.org for more information.
Please note that visual breed identification of companion animals has been proven to be unreliable, so for most of our animals we provide a best guess at predominant breed or breed mix. We get to know each of our animals as an individual and do our best to describe and place pets based on personality not breed label.
