Terrier Dogs Available for Adoption in Brainerd, Minnesota

Maggie is looking for her forever home. She came to us from a not so caring home, and supposed rescue, that closed their doors after the people list their home. The information shared to us about her life prior to coming our way is heartbreaking, to say the least. She came to Minnesota on a transport from the south. She was not expected, as the owners claimed the transporting Southern rescue just "...threw her in as extra...." with the batch of other animals the owners requested . She was originally given the horrible name "Maggot", we were told so we changed to "Maggie" instead. The gentleman of the couple didn't try and bond with her but Maggie followed him around faithful and always asked to go in the car to ride into town, any time the gentleman put his hat on. When we pulled Maggie and several other animals for placement, we were able to get her in the nick of time as the owners were going to put her down because no one would want her and they said she was old at 5-6 years of age and hard of hearing.
Fortunately, we got Maggie and updated her shots, tested her for HW, Parvo and Giardia/Coccidia, all of which she is negative for. Maggie is spayed, chipped, and dewormed. She is on a diet as she is about 43# and should be around 30-32#.
We are hoping to find a home that has a fenced yard and looking for general companionship. Maggie does have some hearing loss but seems to respond to cues and some louder noises. She is housebroken and does well with doggie doors that she can go out and sunbathe on beautiful days. She also loves sitting "shotgun" in the car ride into town. We are just asking for a modest fee, and waive most of the other costs just to find her a family that will love her. She is good with kids, cats, and other dogs. Not exactly sure what she is a mix of, we have had many guesses with most guessing she has some terrier in her.
