Lola - Terrier and Chihuahua Dog for Adoption in Bedford Hills, New York

Some dogs wear their hearts on their sleeves. Lola carries hers quietly, just waiting for someone kind enough to help it bloom. This precious little 1 year old 18 pound Terrier/Chihuahua girl has likely had a difficult start in life, and while she wants so badly to be brave, trust doesnt come easily for her yet. At first, Lola may hang back and watch from a safe distance, taking everything in. But if you sit with her, speak softly, and give her a little time (or some chicken) youll discover the sweetest soul. She leans into gentle pets, her eyes soften, and you can almost see her realizing that maybe people can be kind after all. Lola isnt looking for perfection—shes looking for patience. She needs a family that understands that love isnt always instant, but its always worth the wait. With consistency, kindness, and reassurance, Lola will blossom into a loyal companion who will never forget the person who helped her feel safe. Once she knows shes loved, her confidence grows quickly. Every small victory—every tail wag, every cuddle, every brave step forward—is incredibly rewarding to watch because of her fear, a home with small children would not be best for her. She does enjoy being around dogs though. Shes a sensitive soul who just needs a chance. Lola isnt asking for much—just someone willing to believe in her until she can believe in herself. Our dogs are in foster care and we do NOT have a shelter or boarding facility. AN APPLICATION MUST BE COMPLETED IN FULL AND APPROVED BEFORE A DOG CAN BE MET. This is a firm policy. Our busy volunteers are not able to respond to questions about the dog or dog meeting requests in the absence of an application. We know these dogs very well because they are in foster care. Please read the profiles of the dog(s) you are interested in prior to submitting an application. If there are specific requirements stated (ie: Fenced Yard or Canine Friend Required) these are included because they are vital to the happiness, health, safety and adoption success of that dog.

We are only able to save as many dogs as we have foster homes (https://www.anewchancear.org/foster/faqs/) and resources for. We provide medical care including vaccinations, testing, deworming, spaying/neutering and microchipping before transporting our dogs. We provide all supplies, preventatives and any follow up vet care necessary while they are in foster care. These costs are high and the number of lives we can save is entirely dependent upon donations from people like you. We do not receive funding from private foundations or government sources.
