## MEET DIEGO — FROM DEATH ROW TO SURVIVOR... NOW HE JUST NEEDS HOME
**Name:** Diego
**Age:** Almost 6 years old
**Breed:** Piebald Siberian Husky
**Sex:** Male
**Weight:** Approximately 48 lbs.
Meet **Divine Diego #A588823**, an absolutely stunning, crystal-blue-eyed **piebald Siberian Husky** who has been through the absolute ringer — and somehow came out the other side ready for his next chapter.
Woof Tribe first met Diego when he was sitting at San Bernardino City Animal Shelter with a euthanasia deadline hanging over his head.
He was sick, incredibly kennel stressed and resource guarding his food. Considering this boy had been surviving as a stray, we weren't exactly shocked that food had become something he felt he needed to protect.
Diego needed someone willing to look beyond what they were seeing inside an incredibly stressful shelter environment and see the dog underneath it.
**Woof Tribe did.**
Our rescue community came together, a responsible plan was built, and Diego walked out alive.
Then we discovered just how much his body had been dealing with.
Diego tested positive for **Mycoplasma and canine distemper.**
The really good news?
**Diego never developed the neurologic symptoms or lasting side effects we worry about with distemper.** Based on his clinical course, we believe he was exposed and tested positive without ever developing full clinical disease.
Today, Diego has **ZERO apparent lasting effects from that distemper exposure.**
He spent about a month with an incredible medical foster while we made absolutely sure he had the time, care and monitoring he needed. Once he was ready to move forward, he transitioned to another foster where he could work on home skills, socialization, routine and simply learning what it feels like to be safe.
And now?
### DIEGO IS READY FOR THE PART WE SAVED HIM FOR: HIS FOREVER HOME.
Diego is almost six years old, which means you get all that glorious Husky personality without signing up for the full tiny-terrorist puppy package.
His history does matter.
Diego has shown resource guarding around food, so his forever family needs to be willing to manage that responsibly. Separate feeding, respecting his space while eating and appropriate management of high-value treats can go a very long way.
We aren't looking for perfection.
**We're looking for commitment.**
Diego needs stability, structure, patience and someone willing to continue helping him understand that food will always come and that nobody is going to take away his safety again.
Because look at what this dog has already overcome.
He survived the streets.
He survived shelter life.
He survived a euthanasia deadline.
He battled Mycoplasma.
He tested positive for distemper and came through without apparent lasting effects.
**Diego has done enough surviving.**
Now we want him to LIVE.
We want couches and adventures. Walks and ridiculous Husky conversations. A food bowl that gets filled every single day. A human he can trust. And a home where nobody is counting down the hours he has left.
**Diego is available for adoption through Woof Tribe Sanctuary & Rescue.**
If you're an experienced, committed dog owner ready to give this gorgeous piebald boy the safe and permanent home he's been waiting for, apply to adopt Diego.
**We fought like hell to give him a future.**
Now we need someone to give him **forever.**
