DESCRIPTION
04/21/26 13:34 PICNIC (A1404721) was re-evaluated and has been removed from final status. She is now placed on Needs Rescue Urgent, and is available for adoption, foster, or rescue. ________________________________________ Summary of Behavior: Picnic presents as a social and affiliative dog with people, but demonstrates concerning reactivity toward other dogs. She has an overall FAS score of 2, indicating mild to moderate stress, though her arousal increases significantly in dog-related contexts. With handlers, Picnic may be initially nervous, particularly with leash placement, but warms up quickly and seeks interaction. She allows full handling, takes treats appropriately, and engages with people in a friendly and cooperative manner. In the yard, she explores and remains engaged, though she often displays elevated arousal, including raised hackles and a high tail. Her focus can become fixated on the environment, making redirection inconsistent. Picnic’s behavior toward other dogs is the primary concern. She has shown stiff posture, raised hackles, growling, lip curling, and lunging during both fence-line and closer interactions, particularly when dogs approach her directly. While she is able to disengage without redirecting onto handlers, her reactions are intense and occur at a relatively low threshold. She has shown some ability to remain neutral during parallel movement, but this does not reliably carry over to direct interactions. Overall, Picnic is people-social but demonstrates significant dog-directed reactivity and low tolerance for close interactions, with escalation when aroused. 04/09/26 On Needs Rescue URGENT due to dog reactivity. Dog has been noted to be able to be in the same yard as another dog but will growl and lunge at other dogs when they smell her or get in her space.
ABOUT: MIXED BREED DOG BREED
The mixed breed dogs, often referred to as mutts, are a diverse and unique group with a blend of different characteristics from various purebred dog breeds. These dogs come from a mixture of lineages, resulting in a wide range of sizes, coat types, and temperaments. While each mixed breed dog is distinct in its own right, they are known for their resilience, adaptability, and often have fewer health issues compared to purebred dogs due to their genetic diversity. Mixed breed dogs make wonderful companions for families looking for a loyal and one-of-a-kind pet.
The Siberian Husky is a medium sized working dog breed known for its striking appearance and friendly demeanor. Originating from Siberia, these dogs are well adapted to cold climates and are recognizable for their distinctive wolf like appearance, including piercing almond shaped eyes and a thick double coat. Siberian Huskies are known for their high energy levels, intelligence, and strong willed nature, making them best suited for active families and experienced dog owners who can provide them with plenty of exercise and mental stimulation.
