Meet Samantha!

Samantha is an 8-year-old Shih Tzu weighing 17 pounds. This sweet girl is still learning to trust people and will need patient adopters who are willing to let her move at her own pace as she continues discovering that the world can be a safe and comfortable place.

Samantha has had one of her eyes removed, but she continues to enjoy life and navigate her surroundings. She finds comfort in the company of other dogs and requires another friendly, confident canine companion in the home to help her feel more secure and encourage her to come out of her shell.

Samantha is also still learning that the leash is a safe and positive thing. Because she is continuing to work on her leash skills, she requires a securely fenced yard where she can safely enjoy outdoor time while she builds confidence.

Samantha can be more sensitive toward handling, but she has been making progress and becoming more comfortable. Our behavior team would be happy to discuss her handling needs and the progress she has made with any potential adopters.

Samantha is looking for a patient, understanding family who will give her the time, consistency, and positive experiences she needs to build trust and feel comfortable in her new home.

A required in-person meet and greet at our shelter is part of the adoption process to help ensure a good fit for Samantha, any resident dogs, and her potential adopters.

With patience, a confident canine companion, and a family willing to go at her pace, Samantha has the potential to blossom into a wonderful companion.
