ZIPPO AKA ZIPPITY IS READY TO FIND HIS FOREVER HOME

Meet Zippo, affectionately known as Zippity, a 4 year old Shih Tzu/Yorkie mix with a big personality tucked inside a little body.

Zippo came to us after his previous owner experienced significant health issues, leaving Zippo and his canine friends living outside with very little interaction. Thankfully, family stepped in, got everyone the help they needed, and Zippo eventually made his way to us. He has come a LONG way.

Zippo was previously heartworm positive and recently completed his fast-kill treatment like an absolute champ. Now that he is healthy and ready to move forward, we are looking for the right home for this special little guy.
Zippo is nervous and shy when he first meets people. He may never be the dog who runs up to every stranger looking for attention, and that is okay. Once he bonds with his person, though, you get to see the real Zippity. He is silly, sweet, affectionate, and loves being close to his human.
He also LOVES his dog friends and would do best with another dog in the home. He especially prefers female dogs, but could do well with a non-dominant male.

And then there is Zippo's rather impressive collection of talents.

Zippo has cat-like climbing abilities. If there is something to climb, he will probably figure it out. Because of this, he needs a home with a privacy fence. A standard setup where he can see something interesting on the other side of the fence is likely to turn into a Zippo escape mission.
He is also not a great leash-walking candidate, so no apartments for this little guy. Honestly, Zippo thinks a stroller is a perfectly acceptable mode of transportation, and we aren't here to argue with him.

Zippo is about 95% potty trained. He may have an occasional accident, usually because he gets distracted outside playing or following his human around. He also appears to be potty pad trained.

At the end of the day, Zippo is happiest doing one of two things: playing with his dog friends or being right beside his person. He sleeps in the bed, cuddles on the couch, and likes to keep tabs on his human throughout the day.

He is good with cats, but we are looking for a home with no small children.

Zippo needs someone who understands that shy dogs don't always become social butterflies. He needs patience, consistency, a canine companion, and a person willing to let him build trust at his own pace.

Once you earn his heart, though, you get Zippity.
And Zippity is pretty darn special.
