How is he SO cute?!? This little man is Howie and he’s a three year old Shih Tzu who weighs 12.5 pounds. Howie came to us from a local shelter as an unclaimed stray. He had what appeared to be a broken right front leg. Upon further examination and x-rays, it was determined that Howie was actually born with this deformity. Amputation was discussed but since Howie isn’t in any pain and he actually uses the leg somewhat, multiple vets agreed that Howie should remain “as is.” Thankfully, Howie isn’t the least bit phased by his wonky leg. He runs like the wind and jumps up and down from the sofa with no problems whatsoever. This perfectly-imperfect boy isn’t disabled or physically limited in any way — his leg just looks a little different.
This sweet boy is truly a delight and who charms everyone around him. Howie is a friendly, comical fella who is always curious and up for an adventure. He loves his people and he gets along fine with other pets. Howie is great on a leash so he does not require a fenced yard, though he would enjoy one if it was available.
